July 15
The Blacksox continued their win Rock River streak by coming away with a 5-2 win over the visiting Neosho Rockets. After falling behind 1-0 in the 3rd, the offense reponded with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. Batting around the inning, Tyler Yapp drove in the first run with a double to the gap. Paul Patten followed with an rbi single and Nick Hoffman drove in 2 more runners with a 1 out single. That is all the scoring the LT would need as starting picther Riley Tincher and reliever Kevin Mathews held the Rockets to just 6 hits on the afternoon while combining for 7 strike outs. The offense was led by Paul Patten's 3x4, Tyler Yapp 2x5 and Alan Myrold 2x3 who was responsible for the rbi in the fourth inning. The Tavern will be taking on Clyman at home this Sunday at MATC. |

July 8
The Blacksox were on the road in Johnson Creek on Sunday as they came away with a 5-2 victory over the Pioneers. The offense contined to collect the hits as they pounded out a total of 12 on the afternoon. Scott Dybevik and Tyler Yapp acounted for most of the hits as they went 3x5 and 4x5 respectively, collecting 3 double between the both of them. After leading 3-0, Creek pushed 2 runs across the board in the bottom of the 6th off of LT starter Riley Tincher to close the gap. The Tavern responded in the top of the 7th when Shawn Killebrew delivered a one out rbi single and then added another insurance run in the top of the 9th to seal the victory. Tincher pitched 6 solid innings of work, scattering 8 hits and striking out 6 while reliever Kyle Barry pitched the last three innings adding 4 more strikeouts. The Laurel Tavern will be playing in the NBC tournament this Friday at 6:30 in Middleton vs Verona |

July 1
The Laurel Tavern continued their win streak in the Rock by beating the visiting Juneau County Seater 10-3 on Sunday. Behind a dominating performance from starter Kyle Barry the LT moved their record to 5-4. Barry gaveup 2 hits in 8 innings and struke out 11 batters. The offense continued to pound the ball by racking up 15 hits on the aternoon. After trailing 2-0 into the 4th, the Blacksox talleyed 1 in the bottom of the inning and added 2 in the 6th and broke it open with 6 more in the 7th. Alan Myrold led the attack with 3 hits on the afternoon while driving in 2. Bryan Zimmer and Jon Jordan each adde 2 rbis in the 7th inning. |

June 24
The Laurel Tavern evened their record to 4-4 in the Rock and completed a perfect weekend by topping the Ashippun Mudcats 11-1 on Sunday afternoon at MATC. Again the Blacksox got a solid pitching performance as starter Nick Hoffman allowed only one run on 4 hits while striking out 4 batters. The offense continue to pound out hits as they had 13 more on the day with Tyler Yapp leading the pack with a 3x4 performance. Consecutive rbis by Shawn Killebrew, Jesse Powell, Andy Elskamp and Alan Myrold in the first inning, staked the home team to a 4-0 lead, which would prove to be enough on the afternoon. Myrold and Powell each ended up with 2 rbis on the day. The Tavern will host front running Juneau next Sunday at MATC. |

June 23
The Blacksox took on the second place Watertown Cardinals and came out a 6-1 winner on Saturday. Starting pitcher Riley Tincher turned out a solid performance going 8 strong innings scattering 8 hits and striking out 5. Kevin Mathews pitched a perfect 9th to preserve the win. The offense got on track by pounding out 16 hits with Casey powell, Tyler Yapp and Paul Patten collecting 3 hits apiece. Jesse Powell chipped in with a couple rbis as the team moved to 3-4 in Rock River league play. |

May 27
The Blacksox finished up the holiday weekend with a road game at Clyman on Sunday afternoon. The bats were silent for the offense as they lost the game 1-0. Clyman’s Tim Ladron shut down the offense by scattering 4 hits while walking none. The Taverns combined pitching of starter Nick Hoffmann and Riley Tincher held the Clyman bats at bay by only giving up 1 run on 8 hits while striking out 9. The only run came on a 2 out rbi single in the second by Jesse Schwefel. Tincher struck out 3 in 1-1/3 innings of relief for LT. The Blacksox were only able to get one runner to second base all afternoon. The Blacksox open up their Night League schedule starting this Thursday. |

May 26
The Blacksox traveled to Neosho on Saturday and came away a 7-5 loser on a rainy afternoon. The Blacksox fell down 3-0 after one inning after putting the first 5 hitters on base. The Rockets increased their lead to 7-1 in the second inning after a bases clearing double off of starting pitcher Kevin Mathews. That would be the only runs Mathews would give up on the afternoon as he settled down and surrendered only 3 more hits. The Tavern clawed back in the game scoring 2 runs in the 3rd on a 2 rbi single by Jon Jordan and tallying one more in the 8th. Bill Schmelzer drove in another run in the 9th but the Blacksox fell short and were unable to make a comeback. Schmelzer and Mike Zuehlke each collected 2 hits a piece as the team finished with a total of 9 hits but made 2 errors in the field. |

May 6
The visiting Laurel Tavern started off the 2007 Rock River season with a 6-1 victory over the Ashippun Mudcats on Sunday afternoon. The Blacksox got on the board in the 1st inning by capitalizing on a wild pitch. The scored remained 1-0 until the 6th inning when the LT scored 3 runs on 2-out rbi singles from Paul Patten and Rob Kay. Two more insurance runs were added in the 7th and the 9th innings. Kevin Mathews picked up the victory as he pitched a complete game 4-hitter, striking out three and waking one. The defense had an up and down day as they manage to turn 4 double plays on the afternoon but the only run scored by Ashippun was unearned as the Blacksox also created 4 errors. The offense banged out 11 hits as Patten, Kay, Al Myrold and Jesse Powell all had two hits apiece. |

April 22
The Laurel lost their second game in the tournament to Slinger by a score of 5-3. The Blacksox took the lead in the bottom of the first 1-0, but failed to add to it as they left the bases loaded to end the inning. After falling behind 5-1 thru 4 innings the Blacksox cut the lead to 5-3 in the 6th after rbi singles by Rob Kay and Bill Ellingson. The rally came to and end in the 7th as the Tavern was retired in order to end the game. Kevin Mathews took the loss but only gave up 5 hits in 6 innings while striking out 2. The offense collected 9 hits on the day, with Jesse and Casey Powell both collecting 2 each. The Blacksox will face Brookfield next Saturday April 28 at 12:15 for their final game in the Brownsville tournament. |

The Laurel Tavern Blacksox opened up the 2007 season with a 8-1 victory over Appleton in the Brownsville tournament. Matt Krueger pitched 7 complete innings for the win, allowing only one hit while striking out 11. The offense racked up 12 hits on the windy afternoon, with Casey Powell going 3x3 and Mike Zuehlke 2x2. |
